Celebrating the Journey of Esther G. Alvino: A Testament to Love, Resilience, and the Enduring Spirit of a Life Beautifully Lived (May 18, 1926 - Dec 27, 2023).
Esther G. Alvino was born Esther Gosman on May 18, 1926, in Vineland, New Jersey to Osher and Rose Danna Gosman. They named her Esther after the Persian Queen in the Hebrew Bible. She was born on the same day and year as Pope John Paul II. Esther was the first-born of two Gosman children, the younger being her brother Irwin.
Esther married her high school sweetheart, Joseph (“Joe”) Alvino, on October 20, 1945, and had their only child, James (Jimmy), on March 9, 1947. At the time of her husband’s passing in 2019, Esther and Joe had been married for 72 years. Esther loved children and was an elementary school teacher in language arts, then a supervisory teacher to new graduates as they entered the teaching vocation.
Esther loved to sing and dance, garden outdoors, take nature hikes, collect Victorian furniture and antiques with Joe, enjoy her family and have a good time, and laugh until she cried!
Esther is survived by her son James and his wife Margaret, her granddaughter Jaimi, her great-granddaughter Olive, and a myriad of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
